Dry Hyperbaric welding is the process of welding at elevated pressures underwater. It is performed inside a specially constructed cofferdam, creating a dry environment. Defective shell plating sections can be replaced underwater by class approved permanent dry welding. When necessary, custom fabrication of habitats is carried out on-site. Welding is performed in a wet environment using shielded metal arc welding with a waterproof electrode. This is commonly used for temporary repairs and construction.
